Children of the Corn Blu-Ray Review (Arrow)

Picture
From the mind of celebrated horror author Stephen King, the man behind such classic terror tales as The Shining, Carrie and It, comes one of his most chilling offerings yet - Children of the Corn.
A young couple on a road trip find themselves lost in the back roads of rural Nebraska, eventually winding up in the seemingly abandoned town of Gatlin. But the town is far from empty - as the pair soon discover, it's inhabited by a twisted cult of murderous children thirsty for another blood sacrifice...
Adapted from King's eponymous short story first published in 1977 and starring Linda Hamilton (The Terminator), Children of the Corn has gone on to spawn one of the most enduring horror franchises of all time.

Shooting, The / Ride In The Whirlwind: The Criterion Collection Blu-Ray

Picture
In the midsixties, the maverick American director Monte Hellman conceived of two westerns at the same time. Dreamlike and gritty by turns, these films would prove their maker's adeptness at brilliantly deconstructing genre. Shot back-to-back for famed producer Roger Corman, they feature overlapping casts and crews, including Jack Nicholson in two of his meatiest early roles. The Shooting, about a motley assortment of loners following a mysterious wanted man through a desolate frontier, and Ride in the Whirlwind, about a group of cowhands pursued by vigilantes for crimes they did not commit, are rigorous, artful, and wholly unconventional journeys to the Old West.
Features

New 4K digital restorations of both films, supervised by director Monte Hellman, with uncompressed monaural soundtracks
Audio commentaries on both films, featuring Hellman and film historians Bill Krohn and Blake Lucas
New interviews with actors John Hackett, B. J. Merholz, Millie Perkins, and Harry Dean Stanton, assistant director Gary Kurtz, and chief wrangler Calvin Johnson, all in conversation with Hellman
New conversation between actor Will Hutchins and film programmer Jake Perlin
New video essay on actor Warren Oates by critic Kim Morgan
PLUS: An essay by critic Michael Atkinson

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry / Race With The Devil Blu-Ray

Picture
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
Larry (Peter Fonda) is a former NASCAR racer looking to score some quick cash. Mary (Susan George) is a sexy groupie aching to take a fast ride. Together with mechanic Deke (Adam Roarke), they pull off a cold-blooded supermarket heist and hit the highway in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. Now there is a maniacal lawman (Vic Morrow) on their trail, an entire police in pursuit and hundreds of miles of roadblocks between their '69 Charger and freedom. Buckle up for the action classic that blows the doors off all other car chase films as it speeds toward one of the most jaw-dropping finales in movie history. Directed by John Hough (The Legend Of Hell House, The Incubus).

Race With The Devil
For old friends Roger (Peter Fonda) and Frank (Warren Oates) and their wives (Lara Parker, Loretta Swit), it was supposed to be "the best damn vacation they ever had." But their RV road trip takes a deadly detour at a secluded campsite when they accidentally witness a satanic sacrifice in Race With The Devil. Now horror hits the highway as the couples are pursued by satanic cultists through some of the most intense car chases and into one of the greatest twist endings in drive-in movie history. Directed by Jack Starrett (The Losers, Cleopatra Jones), who was also an actor and played the memorable role of the vicious Deputy Galt in First Blood.

From Site
Who we are
Vinegar Syndrome is a film restoration and distribution company with a catalogue of hundreds of feature films, produced primarily between the 1960s and 1980s.

Founded by Ryan Emerson and Joe Rubin, VS has been acclaimed by The New York Times, Village Voice, Dangerous Minds, The Foglenest Files, and many others as one of the premier independent genre film focused distribution companies in the world, and was noted by Alamo Drafthouse Theatres as “…perhaps the most important home video label in the world for genre film…”

Our ever growing archive includes the catalogues of Ace Booking Company, Bero Consultants, Blu-Pix, Bunnco, Caribbean Films, Citrus Productions, Coastline Films, Gail Films, Great American Soap Opera Corporation, Hollywood International, Lima Productions, PRP Inc, Satellite 3, Star Distributors, TTR Inc, Winters/Lucas Productions, and more, making ours the largest and most comprehensive library of American sexploitation cinema in the world.
What we do
Our work has resulted in the digital restoration and preservation of over 500 feature films, more than any other independent studio. We also work closely with several archives and institutions, such as: The Academy Film Archive, Library of Congress, UCLA, The Walker Art Center and many more.

Our in-house lab partner, OCN Digital Labs, affords us the capability to perform the highest quality digital film preservations achievable on titles that, in many cases, would otherwise deteriorate beyond the point of saving. Our goal in every restoration we do is to try and bring each film back to its originally intended theatrical exhibition quality, and to make the vast treasures in our archives available to fans and film lovers of all generations.
Vinegar Syndrome?
Our namesake is a constant reminder of what we’re fighting against. Simply put, the term ‘vinegar syndrome’ describes a chemical reaction that deteriorates motion picture film over time. Film preservation is a race against time, especially with long-neglected genres and underground films.

Sorry, forgot to ask my question to you ... Do you have any fond memories from back in the VHS days ? Would love to hear any that people have, since I used to love to go to my local video store and just look for hours at all the horror movies.
