The Lady Kills tells the story of Françoise Frémond, who travels across Europe on an apparently random killing spree, bumping off a series of increasingly odious men. From Swinging London to the eternal city of Rome, she leaves a trail of dead bodies and the question: why? A mystery film as only Jean Louis Van Belle could make it, The Lady Kills is a blast from start to finish with an amazing soundtrack of gloriously groovy psych-rock. Pervertissima is a bizarre – and possible unique - combination of mondo movie and mad scientist flick. A beautiful woman is hired by a scandal sheet editor to research and write a report on “Love in Paris”. Her quest takes her from a lesbian sauna to a secretive club of masked swingers, via stints as a street walker in a seedy Paris back alley and a strip-tease artist in an upmarket cabaret. Her final outing leads to the clinic of the dangerous Dr Vilard, who aims to create sex robots out of human flesh, and mate them to create a race of superhumans to take over the world! The neighborhood is terrorized by a razor-toting slasher who preys on defenseless blind women. Lucas' father (James Fox, The Russia House), the local Police Chief Superintendent, is helpless to prevent the mutilations. Lucas seems to have a sixth sense - he knows the identity of each victim in advance; he witnesses the attacks but can't do anything to prevent them. It is only when the slasher is about to attack a beautiful blind girl (Clare Holman) that Lucas is able to kill the madman and end his reign of terror. Or has he? Is what we've witness an incredible act of heroism or the nightmarish fantasies of a terrified youth, a dreamworld where truth is reversed and reality is a blur? Academy Award® winner Mark Peploe (1987, Best Screenplay Adaptation, The Last Emperor) makes his directorial debut with Afraid Of The Dark, a psychologically thriller where normal childhood terrors can lead to tragedy. Or is it so bad that it's good? If you think you've seen the worst movie ever made think again. This rare hard to find movie originally released nationwide in 1991 under the title "Beasties" by Cinema Home Video headed by Dave Decoteau, known for Creepozoids, Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama and many other B - Movies from the eighties. He also directed some of the Puppet master movies for Charles Band at Full Moon. Beasties was one of only a few super 8 films to ever receive a national distribution deal by a independent Hollywood distributor. "Bionaut" was the original title, but was changed to "Beasties" when it was released. Beasties was the working title to another film "Ghoulies" and soon replaced Bionaut as the title for release. There were only 200 copies ever sold before being pulled from distribution because of a changing market for small low budget films. Shot on a shoe string budget on super 8 film this film strives to be something more than just another rubber puppet monster movie. The master tape was destroyed in a fire a decade ago. Salvaged from one of the few remaining VHS tapes, it was re-released on to DVD for your viewing pleasure, by the director, producer, Steven P. Contreras. Beasties was edited down to less than 90 minuted in the original release. This version has the missing first 20 minutes not seen in the original released version, now available here. If you like cheesy low budget horror/sci-fi films and are looking for a good laugh then let Beasties bite your ankle. NOT RATED: Adult language, adult situations, nudity, violence, and plenty of ridiculous cheesiness. Mix a little Gremlins with a dash of Back to the future and this recipe explodes with adventure and fantasy. Nelson Croft, a college nerd is forced to go on a date, where he meets the girl of his dreams - suddenly, he finds himself hurled through a series of events like finding an alien space craft stuffed full of aliens...runs into into a gang of psychotic punkers...then is captured by a demonic high priest with designs for world domination....and finally discovers a strange creature called a Bionaut. Nelson soon learns that everything adds up to one big picture and only he can stop future disasters that await the world. “Beasties” Director’s Cut DVD – https://www.amazon.com/Beasties-Steven-Paul-Contreras/dp/B00OGQA41Y/ A Run Through '91 "Shake, Rattle, and Roll 3" Streaming Review (Amazon Prime)![]() A Trilogy-Horror. Or does she love Elliot? It's uncertain because brothers Beverly and Elliot Mantle are identical twins sharing the same medical practice, apartment and women – including unsuspecting Claire. In portrayals that won the New York Film Critics Circle Best Actor Award, Jeremy Irons plays twin gynecologists whose emotional dependency collapses into mind games, madness and murder. David Cronenberg (The Fly) won the Los Angeles Film Critics Awards Best Director honors for melding split-screen techniques, body doubles and Iron's uncanny acting into an eerie, fact-based tale. Why We Love It "As Shout! Factory’s sub-division of horror and science-fiction films, Scream Factory has become the Criterion Collection for cult classics, providing second-to-none releases of some of my favorite films of all time. Dead Ringers is an absolute must-own for horror fans and the newly initiated who have acquired a taste for Cronenberg through Criterion’s releases of Videodrome, Scanners, and The Brood, desperate for more body horror." – Adam Frazier, Geeks of Doom Considered a masterpiece by many, Dead Ringers is an effective, slow burn psychological thriller. It feels a little long in the tooth in places, but it contains the memorable performances and imagery typical of even lesser works by Cronenberg. Scream Factory’s Blu-ray release is definitely one that you’ll want to pick up if you’re a fan of the film. On the whole, it’s a fine package and is very much recommended. – Tim Salmons, The Digital Bits "Shout! Factory has added some strong new features and a pleasing new visual and audio presentation that is arguably superior to the Criterion release. This is a wonderful film and well worth your time." – Joshua Jenkins, ReDVDit! "It’s a cold film, but not a dispassionate one—sometimes horrifying, always fascinating. It’s another great film from a director who has made a lot of great films." – Patrick Bromley, Daily Dead Watching Dead Ringers again on Blu-ray allows one to fully appreciate Denise Cronenberg’s stunning costume design and DP Peter Suschitzky’s saturated, crisp cinematography, the two artists working in collusion to create a cold, carefully color-coded fantasy world that feels like an unholy marriage between the clinical and comic book. It’s a perfect movie, both as a purely cinematic experience and a virtual emotional wringer. – Chris Alexander, Comingsoon.net Bonus Features --- DISC ONE --- High-Definition Transfer Of The Film (1.78:1 Aspect Ratio) NEW Audio Commentary With Writer William Beard, Author Of The Artist As Monster: The Cinema Of David Cronenberg Audio Commentary With Actor Jeremy Irons --- DISC TWO --- NEW 2K Scan At The Director's Preferred Aspect Ratio (1.66:1) NEW Carey's Story – An Interview With Heidi Von Palleske NEW Working Artist – An Interview With Stephen Lack NEW Connecting Tissues – An Interview With Special Effects Artist Gordon Smith NEW Double Vision – An Interview With Director Of Photography Peter Suschitzky Vintage interviews With Jeremy Irons, Director/Co-writer David Cronenberg, Producer Marc Boyman And Co-writer Norman Snider Vintage Behind-The-Scenes Featurette Original Theatrical Trailer Shout! BOX TINTO BRASS Italian director Tinto Brass is known as the absolute master of erotica, creator of works like All Ladies Do It, Frivolous Lola and Paprika. His gift at perfectly portraying the beauty of the female body has made him celebrated by both men and women. And it is precisely the latter category that sends him boxes full of fan letters. P.O. Box Tinto Brass is a collection of those letters, photos and videos of female sexual fantasies. This erotic comedy by the Maestro himself, with a score by Riz Ortolani, contains a succession of exciting, downright sensational and sometimes even shocking material. Previously unreleased in the US, Cult Epics presents the Uncut version in a 4K transfer with both the original Italian language track and the English dub. This 2 Disc Limited Edition of 2000 Copies includes exclusively the Documentary; IsTintoBrass, and a 48-page Photo book of unpublished images from the Tinto Brass Archives by right-hand set photographer Gianfranco Salis. ISTINTOBRASS In this documentary Tinto Brass talks candidly about his long-life career, from his earliest anarchistic, innovative and experimental arthouse films (Whoever Works is Lost, The Howl, Attraction) to the decidedly derriere-obsessed fetishism of his later work. Starting as an assistant to Roberto Rossellini, Henri Langlois and Joris Ivens, he soon found himself at the very beginning of the Nouvelle Vague, discussing cinema with auteurs such as Bresson, Godard, and Truffaut. The biography brings to light an almost forgotten chapter of cinema history, thanks to the analyses of Marco Muller and Gianni Canova, who trace the beginnings on up to the films on power, such as the Nazi-brothel melodrama of Salon Kitty and the infamous Caligula, which was enormously successful with the public. To this very day, Brass remains an icon of erotic pleasure and voyeurism, and his story is revealed in the tales of Gigi Proietti, Serena Grandi, Helen Mirren, Franco Nero and Sir Ken Adam, among others.
