So bad it’s good? So weird it’s interesting? So earnest it’s endearing or tolerable? A recently released criminal decides to try and rob an ex-lover's rich boss with her help. The duo becomes trapped inside the sadistic millionaire's booby trapped castle and must solve a series of puzzles in order to survive. “Beyond the Seventh Door” can be admired for its ambition and morality lesson. Besides that it may be enjoyed by someone who appreciates earnest bad movies. A foreign director and lead actor, who don’t completely understand English, result in awkward and painful dialogue. These types of films have seemingly been celebrated as of late. The lapses in reason from some of the characters and the way some scenes play out can certainly cause brain rotting. Is deciding to have sex in a pit that can fill with freezing water a good idea? The saving grace of the film is the top notch low budget traps made on a shoe string budget. The sets are made to be seemingly interactive and knowing they were all shot in a basement of a water plant helps appreciate it. The end lesson of greed and crime doesn’t pay is a timeless one and works in the film. This plays best during the climax where our hero has a hard choice between money and safety. The disc includes a commentary with the director BD Benedikt and Actor Lazar Rockwood, moderated by Paul Corupe from Canuxploitation. Also included are interviews with the two mentioned and a featurette about Ben Kerr, a famous eccentric Canadian. “Beyond the Seventh Door” will gain some genuine fans that garner inspiration from it; it will also gain an army of snarky hipsters who think it is ironic to say they love it. InterVision does a great job with an oddball title that some will adore and others will abhor. Product Description: The Infamous ‘80s Canadian Thriller Now On DVD For The First Time Ever More than 30 years later, it remains one of the most ambitious, sought-after and totally bizarre low-budget Canadian features of all: Yugoslavian-born actor Lazar Rockwood – in a notorious debut performance that still astounds Canuxploitation fans – is Boris, an ex-con and career thief who convinces his ex-girlfriend (Bonnie Beck) to help him rob her wealthy boss’ castle. But when Boris discovers that the eccentric millionaire has booby-trapped the building, they’ll have to survive six riddle-triggered rooms of homicidal mayhem in order to claim the treasure. Writer/director (and future best-selling ‘religious thriller’ author) B.D. But perhaps the most unhinged of all his directorial efforts, and certainly the most influential, must surely be his original gore-fest Blood Feast - the first ever splatter movie. Dorothy Fremont is looking to throw a party unlike any other, and she gets just that when she hires the decidedly sinister Fuad Ramses to cater the event. Promising to provide her guests with an authentic Egyptian feast, Ramses promptly sets about acquiring the necessary ingredients - the body parts of nubile young women! Featuring a host of stomach-churning gore gags including the infamous tongue sequence and much more nastiness besides, Herschell Gordon Lewis' Blood Feast more than lives up to its name and remains essential viewing for any self-respecting splatter fan. Great video as always. Definitely would want to see a collection overview video and shelf by shelf videos but I know the time it would take for those may not be feasible haha. I think the format you do your updates/reviews is great so keep that up!

I've already done the other two parts of the contest before hand. I'm not sure if you've ever reviewed Phantom of The Paradise. Honestly, your videos are always great and I've been a fan of them forever. I was also wondering if you're a fan of old school martial arts films?

Love Slaughter High. A weird one, and came a little late to the slasher party, but very fun.

Consider this my contest entry :) As for a question, Do you have any recommendations for shelf storage of movies? Your last couple vids have a setup behind you almost exactly like mine but was wondering if you have certain shelf styles, manufacturers, etc that you prefer.

You've made movies and you've watched movies. Cast, script or director? Which is most important? Thanks.

I am skipping the contest this time, but since you had asked for feedback, I think one thing you could do is mention actors or filmmakers who have worked on cult films who have passed away, particularly if the time you're putting together a video coincides with they time they've passed away. Ray Lovelock passed away a week ago, for example, so perhaps you could talk about an actor or filmmaker briefly and kind of shed some light on some of the things they did.
